This is an article from The Times Online about the bullying and persecution of street photographers. It talks about how amidst a climate of terror and paedophilia photographers are getting punched out and kicked in the balls and stuff.
But here is one of the best arguments supporting street photography (excerpted from the article):
Street photography doesn’t just document what our environment used to look like; it shows us how it really looks now, freezing the moment to reveal the weirdness and magic of the split second … Stuart’s photograph of a young dancer, in mid-air, upside-down, in Trafalgar Square … Mermelstein’s of a woman out walking her pet iguana. These images reveal the surreal in the real, force us to appreciate that our city spaces are collages of constantly shifting, surprising juxtaposition.
And I just want to add that I love people-watching and I’m so glad there are talented photographers out there that are able to capture profound moments in people-watching.
I love the Hardcore Street Photography pool on flickr

I like the beat of this song, and also the peanut gallery claps at the end which makes it kinda intimate. Also I think I automatically like the song because right about the middle of the tune a trumpet backs up the vocal which personally reminds me of Broken Social Scene who I heart. Regardless, this is a great lo-fi headphones-commuter tune. Check it out now >>

I’m sort of glad I wasn’t the only one that had this kind of thought. Here’s my take on McDonald’s plus Christianity. I specifically used the Papacy though:
I even had to write a paper on this piece for my Art and Ideology of the 2oth Century class and I got an “A” on it! I feel like I’m in 4th grade. Grad school, it’s like 4th grade but more expensive. Here’s my paper — it’s about how this piece covers the ideas of Frederich Nietzsche.
From The Hollywood Reporter, about the “criminal” finding an alibi confirmation via cutting room floor footage from the show Curb Your Enthusiasm, created by Larry David:
Catalan had been jailed as the primary suspect in the May 2003 killing of a 16-year-old girl. His alibi? He was attending a Dodger game with his 6-year-old daughter at the time of the murder. But because it couldn’t immediately be proven, Catalan remained locked up.
…
“It just so happened we had a camera rolling with a wide-enough lens to have Catalan in the shot. But we didn’t shoot in very many sections that night. If we’d picked a different section, the man is still in jail.”
…
“You know, I think Larry did enjoy this whole thing,” Weide maintains. “The fact that it was so clearly inadvertent is what’s most important to him. This didn’t implicate him as having directly helped someone.”
