a look at the cycle of consumerism with the aid of animation

here’s a teaser:
I thought I had posted this guy’s work before. Maybe another blog in another lifetime.
He is French illustrator Stephane Manel and he’s a huge reason I’m even in the illustration MFA program at Academy of Art. I just found out that he has been doing music videos for a Swedish band called Pacific! and they look awesome. 80′s inspired videos for sure.

“Hot Lips” by Pacific!
“Number One” by Pacific!
Hells yeah, girls on bikes.
His website: http://stephanemanel.com/
In the tradition of synching say Dark Side of the Moon with The Wizard of Oz, someone put Broken Social Scene’s tune “Windsurfing Nation” to a bit of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. I personally don’t think it worked very well, but I freakin’ love that song.
Furthermore, do drugs.
That’s from animator and illustrator Arthur de Pins. Pretty cute I suppose. Definitely good style.
I also like one about how boys and girls fit together called “Lily and Jim” by Don Hertzfeldt. Info about the animation in question on Hertzfeldt’s site because i could not find a clip on the interwebs: http://www.bitterfilms.com/lilyjim.html
but here is a different Hertzfeldt masterpiece entitled “Ah, L’Amour”:
and this last one i am posting just to show you why animation is the coolest medium: because it can incorporate baby-related violence and pass the censors
but mom, i just don’t think there’s much of a difference between a douche and a turd. i just don’t care
The animation is by Dan Meth. If you want some Mike Tyson’s Brunchout, go to his website and check out all the killer animations.

Also, Little Cars, obviously a Pixar Cars ripoff

PRA is a group of young animators that got their start at age 14, and now they are doing work for a Mitsubishi television spot. There was no embed code to drop the video into this post, but click the link above to check out the TVC from the CGSociety article (quicktime).
