These illustrations have a limited palette but still capture everything that a photo of the same subject matter and emotional tone would catch. They are nice little slices of life at home. Really great work.

These are like high brow children’s illustrations. The lighting in all of these is probably what attracts me the most. There’s this Tim Burton-y sense of form. Really great colors and just all around awesome.

fabulous work. this guy is a real illustrator. just look the hands on that last piece. that’s how illustrators draw hands. that’s right.
these are all acrylics on watercolor paper. these are *not* digital! hard to believe people still have those skills innit?

“the plot thickens”
This is the robot and donut infested world of Eric Joyner. Very cool creative stuff and also hilarious. It definitely twists up 1950s toys and graphics. And that ‘ol American style of illustration at the beginning of the 1900s. I am now a fan. See more at his portfolio: http://www.ericjoyner.com/
In related news, he has a show coming up in Culver City, CA: http://arrestedmotion.com/2010/07/teaser-eric-joyner-corey-helford-gallery/

Assembled from detritus and photographed at a particular angle which reveals the subject. Very clever and cool.

Her work looks to have some influence of Alex Gray. But still she keeps it out of the realm of escapist mind-trip drivel that so many artists influenced by that guy end up doing.
But this work stands on it’s own, is saying something, and just bends things enough to let you know she understands the weirdness of this world. Also loooove the colors and composition. Well done.

All this art is made from broken bashed up and discarded skateboards. So cool!

Pretty nice work. I think I like the composition and the desaturation. The style however I’m seeing a pattern in contemporary illustration which I don’t see as that unique. But still supercool.

I have a feeling these are part photoshop. But nonetheless a really cool style and I love the muted colors. I’m not sure I quite understand the nautical iconography but it sure looks rad.

Yess super cool work. Kinda reminds me a little of James Jean. But this is somehow like … some homage to downtrodden superheroes or something. Anyway, excellent use of color. I love it.
